Mallory Casevechia, LPCMHSP, ACS

Hello there! My name is Mallory Casevechia and I am a licensed professional counselor, with a mental health service provider and approved supervisor designation in the state of Tennessee, as well as an Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS) through CCE. I graduated from the University of Tennessee with my bachelor’s in biology in 2013 and from Johnson University in 2016 with my master’s in clinical mental health counseling.

My background in biological sciences strengthens my understanding of how the mind and the body are uniquely connected, and I incorporate that knowledge into my therapeutic framework

My experience in the mental health field has led me to work with individuals, couples, and groups in areas not limited to depression, anxiety, addiction, and trauma. I work primarily from a person-centered, solution-focused perspective to help clients work towards becoming their best selves. I utilize elements of dialectical behavior therapy, motivational interviewing, and strengths-based approaches to help clients gain awareness, knowledge, and skills for a brighter future.

Initially, I worked with individuals, adults and adolescents, struggling against substance misuse and addiction in their transition to gain control over their lives. I helped those individuals take back their control to find new hope and a new way of living. Those experiences helped to uncover a passion for meeting clients where they are at and work with what they’ve got to become the best version of themselves.

When I’m not at work, I enjoy time with my husband, daughter, and animals, while getting outside as much as possible. I am an avid rock climber and new martial arts student. I enjoy stories of all kinds through reading, tv shows, movies, and games. I would love to meet you, so please reach out.

Brooke Hilemon, MA

You’ve made it. You have taken the steps to get here. Oftentimes, when we take steps towards change, it can feel overwhelming and scary – but you are not alone. Whether you're facing personal struggles, relationship issues, or navigating the complexities of daily life, counseling can be a valuable addition to your healing process. As someone who is passionate about helping others reach their goals and grow, I would be honored to walk with you as we explore your thoughts and emotions.

Hi, I’m Brooke, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I work from the perspective that human connection is powerful and necessary to the therapeutic process. I have had the opportunity to work with a wide range of people, each with their own personal history and experience. As I have been able to walk alongside their journeys, I have continued to develop a deep passion for fostering positive change in the lives of my clients.

With a client-centered and emotions-focused approach, my desire for counseling sessions is to meet the unique needs and goals of each individual. I strongly believe in a collaborative and strengths-based approach, empowering my clients to discover their inner resources and resilience.

In my spare time, I can be found playing tennis, making (and drinking) lots of coffee, playing with my cats and dog, or spending time with family, friends, and boyfriend. I enjoy a cozy night in with a warm mug in hand, watching my favorite shows or playing video games.

If this resonates with you, I would love to discuss what our collaboration could look like. I am so excited to meet you, and I can’t wait to start this journey together.

Kayla Kilts, MA, NCC

Hi, I’m Kayla! In 2023, I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. I later graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte receiving a Master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Clinical Mental Health.

I am deeply passionate about helping children, teens, and adults in areas such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief and loss, behavioral issues, and trauma. I mainly practice from a client-centered approach because I truly believe that each client is unique and so is their therapeutic journey. My authentic and empathetic approach allows me to walk alongside each of my clients to support their development of self-awareness, coping strategies, and meaningful connections with others. I am additionally trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), a trauma-based therapeutic modality that fosters healing from difficult life experiences.

When working with children, I use Child-Centered Play Therapy to facilitate self-expression and emotion regulation through play. In play therapy, play isn’t just fun – it’s the child’s language, and toys are their words. I offer a calm, nurturing environment where children can lead the way at their own pace, processing their inner experiences through play. I also work closely with caregivers to support the child’s growth both inside and outside the playroom.

During my free time, I love being with my friends and family, exercising, reading, and baking!

Healing begins with feeling seen, heard, and understood – and that’s where our work together starts. I can’t wait to meet you and begin this journey together!

Interns

Our practice is delighted to offer internship opportunities to graduate students. They offer sessions at a special rate and are practicing the most up-to-date techniques and skills, under direct supervision of a licensed counselor.

Casey Cox, BS

Hi there, I’m Casey, a graduate student therapist with a passion for helping others live out their truths. I am currently finishing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling; my work is grounded in the belief that every person has a purpose, a story, and the right to live out a fulfilling life. For me, that means balancing time to myself – usually at home with a book or preparing to make one of my favorite meals – and time with those I love, including watching movies with my spouse and kitten, laughing with nieces and nephews, and playing board games with beloved friends.

For you, a fulfilling life could mean an array of things – some you may know about yourself and maybe some still to be discovered. Living an authentic, intentional, and gratitude-filled life is the goal I set and the hope I have for those around me. I am committed to supporting individuals and couples through life’s challenges with respect, compassion, and empowerment. As a therapist, I am here to walk beside you as you navigate life’s challenges and transitions.

Some of my specialties include depression, anxiety, life transitions, self-esteem, trauma, interpersonal conflict, sexual health, ASD/ADHD clients, and LGBTQ+ clients. I draw from theories such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Narrative theory, emotion-focused therapy (EFT), and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT) to bring a client-centered and strengths-focused approach.

You may find that in working together, we can shift the lens from problems to possibilities, increasing understanding and autonomy as we learn to write your story to be one of empowerment and strength. No matter where you’re starting from, I believe you already have what it takes to create meaningful, lasting change in your life. If you’re ready to take the next step on your journey, I am here to support you every step of the way.

Leah Clark, BA

Hello! I’m Leah. I am currently pursuing a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Johnson University. With a strong commitment to mental health and well-being, I am passionate about supporting individuals, couples, and families through a collaborative, client-centered approach. I am dedicated to applying evidence-based therapeutic techniques to help clients navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, relationship issues, and life transitions. I deeply value the importance of empathy, active listening, and creating a safe, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore their thoughts and feelings.

In my spare time, you can usually find me in the kitchen learning a new culinary technique, watching Cardinals baseball, or searching for treasures at the thrift store. I love spending time with my family, particularly exploring the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains. As a girl from the Prairie State, I am thrilled to live where the mountains are (literally!) right outside my back door. I believe that nature, comfort food, and genuine human connection are three of life’s absolute necessities.

I believe the most important foundational aspect of therapy is developing a trusting therapist/client relationship. By pursuing my degree later in life, I bring years of relational experience, as well as experience with counseling in ministry settings. I am comfortable integrating spirituality into sessions, at the explicit request of the client. I am deeply committed to fostering and enhancing a therapist/client relationship that is characterized by trust, empathy, compassion, confidentiality, and emotional safety. I find it the most profound privilege to be able to meet clients in their deepest hurts and most joyous moments.

I can’t wait to meet you!

Non-Clinical Staff

Our practice would not be complete without our support staff. We are grateful for how they help operations outside of the therapy space.

Sarah Grace Parker, BA

Hi, I’m Sarah Grace! I joined Journey Together Counseling Services in the summer of 2024 after graduating from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), with a Bachelor’s degree in Honors Psychology and a minor in Child and Family Studies.

I serve in a non-clinical role here as an administrative assistant and intern – supporting the day-to-day operations of the practice, helping clients get connected with care, and managing our social media presence and content creation (you can find us on Instagram @journeytogethercounseling). Additionally, I have the privilege of gaining hands-on experience through observation, supervision, and mentorship with Mallory Casevechia.

Alongside my work at JTCS, I’ve continued my research involvement at UTK, expanding on my undergraduate honors thesis exploring the role of social media in hopelessness and suicidality. Looking forward, I plan to pursue a Ph.D. in psychology with the goal of continuing research, teaching at the university level, and advancing trauma-informed care with a focus on how adverse childhood experiences shape development across the lifespan.

Outside of the office, you can find me exercising, crocheting, baking, sitting by the pool, and spending time with my friends. I am happiest when visiting my family in Texas (there’s nothing more fun than a girls’ day with my mom!).

I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to learn from such compassionate and skilled clinicians here at JTCS, and I couldn’t recommend our counselors more highly. If you’re considering starting a new chapter in your mental health journey, don’t wait – your best self awaits here!
